David is a co-founder and director of Northern Ireland's first hackerspace, Farset Labs, as well as a doctoral researcher in condensed matter physics at Queen's University Belfast. He also serves as an operations engineer for Causeway Sensors, an exciting new biosensor startup out of the School of Maths and Physics at QUB. Farset Labs is a registered charity that aims to be a home for the technical and creative community in Belfast, provide an active programme of STEAM education for all ages and to shape the regional policy regarding technical literacy for children and young people. David maintains an active daily role in the charity, particularly around facilities provision and adult outreach events. David's primary area of research is in the fabrication of self-assembling nanoarrays for designed plasmonic biosensors and he enjoys having a presence in both startup life and academia.
